My Encounter With Believing Unbelievers

In the past few weeks, I've been led by the Holy Spirit to dwell among believing unbelievers, to sit with them, listen to them, eat with some, and even accommodate their excesses.

I call them believing unbelievers because they’re Christians who do not think much about or subscribe to some of the very core values of Christianity like holiness, consecration, purity, and sanctification, which results in them becoming incredulous skeptics or doubters.

I’ve learned so much about how these brothers operate, from their thought processes to their actions, and one thing that stood out for me is this, they think they know Jesus. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to place myself on any pedestal or imply I’m better than them, as we’re all just being helped and growing daily in the knowledge of Him, but one thing is sure: we’re all not the same.

Even though I didn’t virtue signal, project any form of sanctimonious persona, or carry an aura of spiritual superiority, so as not to “judge” them, the fruits of the Holy Spirit as stated in Galatians 5:22–23 and the knowledge of the Truth in my Spirit were evident enough to distinguish me from them.

With these displays palpable, my stay with them was cut short, even as I brought the gospel into conversations they initiated and struck, adopting strategies that should convict them. This proved to be an arduous task!

I realized that with those who are believing unbelievers, it’s difficult, according to Hebrews 6:4–6 to turn them again to the Truth, as they think they already know everything about God. Also, their not subscribing to Kingdom principles is mainly because of their love for the things of this world, which is stronger than their desire to, if there’s any, subscribe to the life of righteousness, being ignorant of the one single fact that all they desire is in Christ, in abundance!

It is important to note here that at the time I was engaging these guys, nothing in me alerted me to the fact that this was a test, and at a point, and this is me being honest, I was tempted while in their circle to want the things they lust over because they’re fierce preachers of rebellion.

Well, my testimony is that I overcame with the help of the Holy Spirit, and He has given me reasons to rely on and in Him more and more, even in my most lonely moments, until the end, and yes, to be honest, I felt lonely and without cover.

At the time of typing this piece, I can say that I’m better for my experience because I know and can discern these guys and do well to avoid them if that’s possible, and if it’s not, I act as Jesus would, by letting my Light shine.

And now, a number of these believing unbelievers know to be wary of me when I don't talk about Jesus Christ with them anymore, especially on His principles regarding morality, prosperity, and or eternity, things to which they don’t adhere.

In conclusion, and this is for the Believing Believers, if you’re not sure about your stature/status in Christ, STAY AWAY FROM BELIEVING UNBELIEVERS until you are, and do well to grow in knowledge and revelation of Him. This is because they’re quite loud—scratch that—very loud about the things of unrighteousness, and they preach with boldness the strategies of rebellion.

Also, as a believing believer, those who do not only just wear the tag of Christianity, if it ever gets to the point in your “friendship or relationship” with a believing unbeliever where you don’t speak about Christ to them anymore, make them understand, by your life and character, that it is or will be in their best interest to avoid you as there’s no time to waste, and we’re in the end time, plus it’s futile to cast pearls before swine.
