They’ve killed purity; it’s the reason why there’s calamity in our society.

I was trying to be poetic. Haha, indulge me; let me have this moment!

Okay, wait, don’t go having ideas.

“Purity” in the context of this piece is not a person but a virtue, one that is no longer celebrated by society, or was there a time it was ever celebrated? A question you may need to ask yourself.

You see, healthy societies thrive and maintain growth dynamics because of intangible factors.

These factors are values and virtues that shape the leadership and systems of these societies, and you may ask, what does purity have to do with this?

Track with me and I’ll tell you what purity has to do with it.

When we talk of purity, it’s easy to assume that it’s about abstaining from sexual indulgence, but that’s not only what purity is; it’s a state of the heart, a mindset, spiritually inspired and practiced diligently, to retain the heart in its pure form.

True purity, however, is a direction, a persistent, determined pursuit of righteousness. This direction starts in the heart, and we express it in a lifestyle that flees opportunities for compromise.

In contrast to the above, impurity in any form has its consequences and these are reflected in the decadence of our society because individuals generally do not sustain pureness, either sexually, spiritually, emotionally, etc., and the lack of it inspires adverse activities that do nothing to help society.

To change this, we must go back to the days when purity of spirit, soul, and body was the norm and celebrate those in our generation who practice this as a way of life. By so doing, we will bring back the unity of purpose that works to heal society, because our society needs healing.

We boast of a godly and religious society, as everywhere you turn, there are religious houses, yet we can’t align their availability to our reality because ideological purity does not now, nor has it ever, produce results, but like Hosea Ballou pragmatically puts it, “purity in person and in morals is true godliness,” and this is the foundation for transformation.

When a conscious society embraces the force of purity, it operates based on moral conscience rather than following what is popular or trending, as is often the case today, and prioritizing the quality of outcomes based on the sincerity of people’s motives can lead to social improvement.

Lastly, and this is worthy of note as I round up, is this: purity in its true form brings clarity, and clarity is how society is transformed, and the generation that lacks clarity because it does not celebrate purity will suffer calamity.
